About Us

The Corvallis branch of the People of Praise is located in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Corvallis is the home of Oregon State University. Interest in a covenant Christian Community began in 1969 when Rev. Charles Harris, CSC, a Physics Professor from the University of Notre Dame, came to Oregon State as a Newman Chaplain. In December 1972, a small group of young men and women made a covenant to form the Vine and Branches Covenant Community.

We began a training relationship with the People of Praise in 1979 later becomeing the first branch. On October 14, 1984, many of the men and women in the branch made a covenant with the People of Praise.

Today we number 49 adults and 16 children. We gather together at our Community Center for branch meetings, sponsor Pentecost Seminars, meet in homes to share Saturday Lord’s Day dinners, and meet weekly in small men’s and women’s groups.

The People of Praise works and prays for Christian unity. Our life together shows that Christians of many denominations can work and pray together in heartfelt unity.
